The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland is located on the British Isles. The British Isles are separated from Europe by the North Sea and the English Channel.
The British Isles are washed by the Atlantic Ocean and the Irish Sea in the West. The territory of Great Britain is divided into four parts: England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. Geographical position of Great Britain is very good because the country lies on the crossways of the sea routes from Europe to other parts of the world.
Great Britain is an island nation. Usually it is shortened to the United Kingdom or UK or Great Britain. It`s one of the world`s smallest countries - it`s twice smaller than France or
Spain. However, there are only nine other countries with more people, and London is the world`s seventh biggest city The capital of the UK is London. The official language is English.
